Ava Cook
Ava Nell Cook, 77, passed away October 11, 2009 surrounded by her family. Born in West Virginia, she moved to the Ellet area where she resided for 50 years. Ava was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Tallmadge. She was a member of the Ellet Baseball Board during the 1970's and the 1980's. Ava was also co-owner of the Last Quarter Restaurant and Lounge for 26 years. Ava loved nature, spending time on her deck, tending her bird feeders and caring for her flowers. But her ultimate love was always her large family, all who adored her. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Don; sister, Thelma Hysell; and brother, James "Buck" Parrish. She is survived by her daughter, June (Steve) Self; sons, Don (Kim) Cook, Steve (Tracy) Cook and Pete Cook; grandchildren, Bob, Jason, Tammy, Alina, Justin, Casey, Taylore, Drew, Derek, Alyssa and Jagger; and great-grandchildren, Amber, Cody, Haley and Tyler. Ava is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to once again thank Ava's niece, Janice Horvatic, for her commitment and help during our mother's illness.
