Barbara B. Ripple
Barbara B. Ripple, 73, went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2011 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Canada, she moved to Akron to live with her aunt and uncle, Orv and Hildie Trott, and graduated from Buchtel High School in 1958. Barbara became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1982. Barbara had a passion for music and was a gifted pianist and singer. During a visit to New York City, she was offered a position as a professional singer, but turned it down. She also modeled professionally for a period of time. She served as a leader for the youth in the Ellet Brethren Church and Cub Scouts of Stow Pack 3175. Her close relationship with God was evident in her dedication to her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother! Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dr. Eugene Ripple, Ed. D; sons, Jeff Ripple, Jim Ripple and his wife Joanna; mother-in-law, Beatrice Ripple; grandchildren, Daniel and Anna Jo; and family puppy, Molly. Calling hours will be held Saturday, August 6, from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a short service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor O. Homer Burket officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven of Rest Ministries.
