Barbara "June" Baglia (Nee Hill)

Barbara "June" Baglia (nee Hill), 86, passed away July 20, 2021. She was born January 25, 1935 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and was a resident of Jackson Township in Stark County. June was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1953. She started her banking career while a senior in high school at the Dime Bank. June left the bank in 1957 to be with her husband Joe in Germany. Upon returning in 1958, she continued her career working in various departments of the bank. She then went into branch banking, with many years at Manchester Rd. office and also in downtown Canton. She later returned to the main office of National City downtown Akron to become executive secretary in human resources, until her retirement in 1996.

June was a member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Jackson Township and also a member of Firestone Country Club. She enjoyed watching her grandsons, when they were in high school, play football. She missed only 3 games in 7 years. She also enjoyed listening to her grandson Kirk's band (Grim Republic) play. June loved playing golf. She belonged to two leagues, Tues. morning ladies at Turkeyfoot Golf Course, where she had a hole in one, and Thur. morning ladies at Firestone Nine. She also wintered with Joe in Brooksville, FL. June loved to watch Ohio State Football, Cleveland Browns and the Cavs.

Preceded in death by mother, Marjorie Hill; father, John E. Hill; brother, John Hill; sisters, Elaine Coen, Sharon Byous and Lois Ezell; and son, David Paul Baglia. She is survived by her dear husband of 68 years, Joe; beautiful daughter, Hollie (Ray) Griffin of Coventry Township; grandchildren, Raymond (Heather), Mac (Natalie), Aaron (Alex), Brice and Shelbie Griffin; grandson, Kirk Baglia; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Addison, Cheyenne, Stella, Logan, Jade and Draven; brother, Gary Hill; sisters, Judith May (Michael) Lattrell of California; brother-in-law, Glenn Byous; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm - 6:00pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Memorial services will begin at 6:00pm. Pastor Angie Storer officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in June's memory to the Akron Canton Foodbank or St. Jude's Hospital.
