Barbara Ann Ellis, age 76 of Akron, Ohio, died on September 2, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 23, 1946 in Indianopolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late George and Virginia (nee Hall ) Deardorff.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her three children, Kimberley "Kim" Martin-Krites, with whom she lived, Michael J. (Becky) Martin of Canton and Karla Martin of Massillon; her ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who referred to her as Granny Gray, grandchildren, Amber (Mike) Homan, Joshua Patton, Kaitlyn (Joe) Feldman, Colton Krites, Michael (Tabitha) Martin, Jessica (JB) Holiday, Mikhail Valentine, Christopher Martin, Jeff Martin and Brittany Livesay.
Her siblings also survive, Linda Hall, Connie Deardorff, Rita Sanders and Cathy Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who mourn her loss.
Other than her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Karl Ivan Martin, who was of Boliver, Ohio.
Barbara graduated from Scecina High School in Indianpolis in 1964. She enjoyed music, writing poetry (publishing three books) and loved her cat, Toya and plain M&Ms.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Pastor Joel Cochran will celebrate Barbara's life.
Family and friends may visit from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the funeral home on Saturday.
