Barbara Sue Guckeyson

Barbara Sue Guckeyson, 75, of Akron, passed away on February 21, 2024. She was born in Pikeville, KY on September 19, 1948 to the late Charles and Quinnie {Thacker} Coleman.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Carl Coleman and sister Sharon Durgala.
On September 28, 1985, she married Robert J. Guckeyson. He survives, along with their daughters Stacey Hurley and Candice Reis; grandchildren Jack Bryce and Brock; sister Dora Corley; sister-in-law Carolyn Coleman; brother-in-law Stevie Durgala.
Barbara graduated from Hower Vocational. She spent the first half of her career as a cosmetic buyer and also had a career in sales before owning and operating several gift shops, the last of which was Barn Cat in Holmes County, Ohio. In her free time, Barbara loved attending local softball games, specifically to cheer on the Skywalkers/Brophy's, and spending time conversing with her many friends. She loved helping and rescuing any animal in need, especially dogs or cats. Barbara had a very special gift for decorating and made Christmas time exceptionally beautiful. Her smile lit up a room more than the lights. Barbara referred to her friends as family, and their ongoing support meant the world. She will be incredibly missed by those who love her and hold her memory close.
