Barbara Ann Henthorn

Barbara Ann Henthorn, 87, of Akron went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2018. Barbara was born in Akron on August 3, 1930 to the late Howard and Ressie Gunter.
She was a longtime member of the Akron Baptist Temple, where she taught Sunday School and she and her husband Lucky served as Sunday School Superintendents for 40 years. She and Lucky also opened their home to 28 foster children over a 25 year period. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Lucas and brothers, Robert and Thomas Gunter. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 67 years, Charles "Lucky"; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sarah Henthorn of TN; brother, Michael (Janie) Gunter of Barberton; and grandson, Brandon (Megan) Henthorn.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
