Barbara J. Zabel, 61, of Akron, passed away April 5, 2010. Barbara was born in Akron on August 27, 1948 to the late Robert and Jean Strain. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her grandchildren and family. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed playing bingo and slot machines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Zabel and granddaughter, Vicki L. Humphreys. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Vicki (Jim) Humphreys; sons, Kenneth (Jennifer) Zabel, Jr. and Daniel (Misty) Zabel; brother, Gary Strain; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
