Barbara Jeanne Mears Mccoy O'Brien

Barbara Jeanne Mears McCoy O'Brien, age 80, transitioned from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2018.
She was born to the late Richard (Eupha) and Stella (nee Cinko) Mears on August 24, 1938 in Akron, OH.
In her day she enjoyed working as a waitress at the Waterloo and McMuldren's restaurants. Her love of flowers landed her working across the street at Airport Florist. She loved playing Bingo and volunteering for the Ellet Boosters.
She married and had five children, she loved dearly: Lori (Steve) Evans, Rebecca Brandt, Rose (Tom) Livigni, Mari (Todd) Sutton, William E. McCoy Jr. Then the real joy of her life: 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild who kept her life very busy. They all knew she loved them dearly. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O'Brien and stepbrother, Danny Willis. She is survived by her sister, Carol (Di) Strait, stepsisters, Margaret (Ed) Fites and Margie (Bill) Moore; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with her dear friends, Liz and Ruth.
Her children will always remember her watching Roger Staubach and Law and Order, while sneaking to eat grapes, Lay's potato chips, and drink Sierra Mist.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12 noon until time of service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Wake at Sunny Hills Golf Course in Kent, OH.
