Barry Lee Cannon Jr.

Barry Lee Cannon Jr., age 28, born on April 23, 1996, in Akron, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love and care for others. He was known for his genuine spirit and his unwavering ability to put everyone else first. Barry’s presence brought joy to his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Barry was a beloved brother and shared a close bond with his sisters Ericka (Noah) Davison and Courtney Mitchell; and also survived by sister Felicia Leonard and brother Michael Leonard. As a loving uncle, he adored his nieces and nephews: Austin, Eli, Echo, Ava, Eniya, Asher, and Esaiah, who all looked up to him with admiration. Barry leaves behind a devoted group of family and friends, including his aunts Brenda (Russ) McCune and Charmaine (Larry) Dantz; as well as his best friend Cody Dillemuth. He was also blessed with many cousins who loved him dearly.

Barry was preceded in death by his father Barry Cannon Sr.; mother Crystal Ferris; his paternal grandparents Florence and Harold Poling; and his maternal grandmother Carol Smith. The impact he had on those who loved him will resonate through the memories they share together.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly bringing joy and laughter into their lives. His hobbies included playing basketball, a passion that was as vibrant as his personality. Barry's love for his family and friends was evident to everyone around him; he truly valued the relationships he cultivated throughout his life.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron, Ohio, located at 131 N Canton Rd, on January 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00 PM. This will be an opportunity for everyone who knew Barry to commemorate his life and the love he shared with them. Barry Lee Cannon Jr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy of caring and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
