Baxter Petty, 86, formerly of Uniontown, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2010. Baxter was a former member of Temple Baptist Church and recently attended Grace Cathedral with his son, James. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber after over 40 years of service. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva; and brothers, Lee, John, and Robert Petty. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Jodon; son, James (Bonnie) Petty; grandchildren, Rachel Montgomery, Renee Petty and James Petty, Jr.; and brother, James (Janet) Petty. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 noon with visitation for one hour prior at Grace Bible College, 1055 Canton Rd., with Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
