Beatrice L. Oxley, 96, of Akron, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2018. Beatrice was born in West Hamlin, West Virginia to the late Charles and Lenna (Wilson) Adkins on December 3, 1921, and later moved to Akron, Ohio where she lived most of her life.
Beatrice took great pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Taking care of her family and home was most important to her. "Aunt Bea" made the best fudge, angel food cake, and many other wonderful treats, which the family looked forward to every holiday and special occasion. She was actively involved with her husband and sons in the Experimental Aircraft Association #147 for many years. Beatrice enjoyed selling Avon to friends and neighbors and enjoyed sewing. She was interested in politics, worked for years at the local voter polling station, and enjoyed keeping up with and discussing current events.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ronald; sons, Gary Alan "Butch" and Stephen; brother, Billy T. (Iris) Adkins; and parents, Charles and Lenna Adkins, and her beloved cat, Babe.
Beatrice will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Ron; grandson, John; step-grandchildren, Tambra, Sasha, and Kegan; sister, Betty Morgan; brothers, Bernard (Barbara) Adkins and Bobby (LaDonna) Adkins; special nephew, Greg Morgan; close nieces, Linda Donatelli and Cookie (Len) Weaver; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the dedicated people at Continuing Healthcare of Cuyahoga Falls and to Clear Path Hospice for their care and compassion.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron,OH 44305, where a funeral service will be held at 5pm. Officiated by Rev. Bernard Christy and Rev. Paul Staats. A graveside service will take place on Monday at 2 p.m. at Franklin Cemetery, in Branchland, West Virginia. Officiated by brother Bobby Adkins.
