Ben W. Gay, Jr., 50, of Akron, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Akron General Medical Center. Ben enjoyed programming computers and all work associated with them. He had a love for tools and enjoyed using them on home improvement projects. Ben was a very intelligent, kind, and hardworking man. Ben was a 1979 graduate of the University of Akron and a 1996 graduate of the University of Phoenix. He worked for over 20 years at what is now Lockheed Martin and most recently he was working as a Metrologist for First Energy where he has been employed for almost 5 years. Ben had a great love for animals, especially his pug, Bert. Ben was born in Akron, OH to the late Ben Sr. and Marjorie Gay. He is survived by his soul mate, best friend and loving wife whom he has been together with for over 17 years, Diana (nee Childers). He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Rittenour (Jay), Fran Weirs and Judy Gritton and his brother, Bob Gay (Terri). Ben is also survived by his best close friend, Lance Snyder (Irene). Family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron on Tuesday from 6 - 9 p.m. where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Fleming officiating.
