Bernadette Kiel

Bernadette Kiel passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024 at the age of 73 surrounded by her family and friends. Born on October 26th 1950 in Akron, Ohio to John and Dorothy Carcione, Bernie grew up in the North Hill section of Akron. She graduated from The Elms high school and went on to earn Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Akron. At Akron U Bernie was an extremely active member on campus, most notably as a member of Theta Phi Alpha sorority. Equally notable at Akron U, Bernie met her future husband and life partner, William (Bill) Kiel. Bernie and Bill eventually moved to Doylestown Ohio, where they lived for 40 years together and raised their family.

Bernie spent her life caring for others as a therapist, counselor, and friend to all who needed it. She was an avid quilter, crocheter, and known for cooking waaay too much food for guests. She is survived by her husband of 51 years (Bill), her daughter Lynn (husband Joe, kids Addison & Evan), and her son Jon (wife Hannah, kids Alexander & Micah). A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined in the future.
