Bernard A. Dalton, "Bernie", age 91 of Brimfield Twp., Ohio, died on May 31, 2022.
He was born on December 15, 1930 in Crellin, Maryland, the son of the late Troy and Mildred (nee Bowser) Dalton.
Bernie was a baker at Continental Baking/Wonder Bread, retiring in 1993 after almost 40 years of service.
He was known for riding his bike in the Brimfest Parade for many years. He was a volunteer at the church he formerly belonged to, the Brimfield Church of God, being a member there for almost 40 years. Following his years at the Brimfield Church of God he currently belongs to Solid Rock Fellowship in Hartville. Bernie always helped others where needed and always made friends wherever he went.
Survivors include his daughter, Camilla (Jerry) Taylor; his son-in-law, Steve Howe; his grandchildren, Nicole Dalton, James (Deanna) Taylor, Matthew (Taylor) Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Joe, Jazmin, Molly, Nicholas and one on the way, Ari; and his companion of 14 years, Donna Cooke.
His siblings also survive, Ronald Dalton, Eloise Pierson and Sandy Cropp.
Other than his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (nee Johnson) Dalton, on January 17, 1997, they were united in marriage on April 19, 1952; his children, Richard Dalton, Nancy Dalton-Howe and Kathy Dalton; his grandson-in-law, Dennis Wallace; and his step-mother, Neva Dalton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Bernard's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
