Our Dad, Bernard W. Reed, 74, closed his eyes on Earth and opened his eyes in Heaven with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, being reunited with the love of his life, Renee Reed.
Our Dad is a very proud Vietnam Vet, serving with the US Army where he earned the rank of a Sergeant. He was also part of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He earned several medals including the Purple Heart. His military service was one of his proudest achievements. He was always proud to share his service memories and shook the hands of any fellow servicemen he would see in public. If you ever ran into him, he was proudly wearing one of his many Vietnam Veterans shirts.
He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Walton Hills Stamping Plant, which is where he learned his love for Ford vehicles. He would remind anybody looking for a vehicle that Ford was the best, even though many did not share the same love, he enjoyed a good "Ford is the best" argument.
Bernard was very much loved and will be missed by his 3 children, 5 grandchildren and the rest of his loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Renee Reed and parents Robert "Bob" and Jacqueline Reed. He is survived by his daughter Tammy Reed, son Bernie (Angela) Reed, son Joey (Bekka) Reed, Bernard's very much-loved grandchildren Michael Bridge, Hannah Reed, Hailey Reed, Troyanna Reed and Hunter Reed, step-grandchild Zoey Zink, as well as his brothers Bob (Norma) Reed, Dennis (Lisa) Reed and Greg (Lesha) Reed.
Our Dad will be missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing him. We love you Dad, and we will see you and Mom when we get to Heaven.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 18th, from 1:00 to 3:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held Monday at 11:00AM with Elder Gene Baumgardner officiating.
