Bernard O. Schonauer

Bernard O. (Sam) Schonauer, born in Wooster, Ohio February 22, 1928, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 8, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Fern D. Schonauer.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Todd (Nikki) Schonauer and Ted (Sharon) Schonauer; four wonderful granddaughters, Chelsey (Clay) Kohl, Cassidy (Austin) Aday, Heather (Joe) Kraus), Lexi Schonauer and 3 great grandchildren, Dakota, Wyatt and Riggs Aday.

Sam enjoyed a long career at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as a Tool & Die maker and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He will be remembered for his deep faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was very involved in numerous churches over his lifetime.

Sam spent his final 4+ years living with Ted's family in Texas and greatly enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday January 28, 2022 from 10:00-12:00 followed by a 12 noon funeral service with Rev. Joel Cochran of the Chapel in Marlboro officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Military Honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, following the service at the funeral home.
