Bernette Mills "Bea"
Grandma Bea Mills, 95, of Akron, passed away November 5, 2013. She was born in New Straitsville, Ohio to the late William and Dora Backus. She has lived in Akron since 1942. Bernette worked as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She spent 22 years working in advertising for W.T. Grant and later retired from Akron General Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "Butch"; brother, William Backus; son-in-law, Frank Novak Jr.; and special friend J.V. Blankenship. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Carolyn Novak; grandchildren, Shawn Stack, Michael (Carolyn) Stack, Kimberly (Adam) Shriver; great-grandchildren, Jordan Stack, Nicholas Stack, Kayla Stack, Lindsey Stack, Logan Stack, Mirisa Rife, Cody Shriver; and great-great-grandchild, Lyra Rife.
Visitation will be Saturday November 9 from 9-10 followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service with Rev. Glenn Wadlington officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
