"Bee" Baker (born Bernice F. Flynt - sorry Mom!) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Oct. 18, 2023. Bee was born in Holly Ridge, North Carolina on Aug. 22, 1946. She was the only daughter of seven children. Her father was a career military man, and the family lived all over the world. Bee had especially fond memories of living in Okinawa, Japan, and Germany.
Bee graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1965. She met her husband, William "Bill" Baker, Sr. at a carnival in the parking lot of Twin Star Lanes in Kent. They married in 1966 and settled in Cuyahoga Falls where Bee resided her entire life. Bee was the mother of three boys who survive her - Billy (William S. Baker, Jr.), Sam (Stephen S. Baker), and Brian M. Baker. Bee is also survived by six grandchildren (Jordan, Sammy, Jarrett, Nicole, "Little Billy," and Carly), daughter-in-law (Stacy), two brothers (Burke and John), and many sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Bee also leaves behind many, many friends including Laureen, her dear friend and next-door neighbor at National Church Residences. The two were often referred to as Thelma and Louise and Laverne and Shirley by their fellow residents and staff.
Bee was preceded in death by the father of her boys, her parents (Reed Hamilton Dewitt and Bernice A. Flynt), and brothers Gene, Chuck, Reed "Buck" Jr., and Willy.
Before her later years, Bee was always on the go. She loved playing bingo, dining out, and going to the movies. She was never at a lack of words and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Bee especially loved spending time with family and friends, playing games, laughing, talking, and telling jokes.
Although she was blind and unable to walk in recent years, her mind remained sharp. She had an amazing memory and a unique gift for remembering dates, especially birthdays. If you were fortunate to know Bee, she remembered your birthdate.
Per her wishes, there will be no formal services. Friends are invited to join the family for a casual celebration of Bee's life on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, from 3-8 p.m. at the Akron Turner Club. Bee loved nothing more than a big gathering with friends and family.
