Bernice Saunders (nee Osborne)
Bernice Saunders, 95, passed away November 25, 2008. She was born in Elizabeth, West Virginia on January 15, 1913. She worked at the Mohawk Tire and Rubber Co for 37 years, then became president of the Mohawk 20 Year Club and the Mohawk Retirees Club. Bernice was a charter member of the Ellestar Chapter 565 Order of the Eastern Star. She lived life with joy and happiness and loved collecting glassware, traveling, and playing bingo. She was an animal lover and raised many generations of stray cats and dogs over the years. Above all, she treasured her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Osborne; mother, Olive Osborne (nee Boice); and brothers, Tommy, Ray, Claremont, Clyde, and Glenn. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Frank. She is survived by her son, Robert; special nieces, Dorothy Osborne and Norma Petty; special friend, Linda Coffman; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 2 6 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Private burial will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
