Bernice J. Anderson, 68, passed away December 17, 2009 after a long illness surrounded by her loving family. She retired from Kaufmann's in 2001 working as a human resource specialist. Bernice found joy in her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 3 sons, Jerry Anderson, Richard Anderson and Kevin Shepherd; parents, James and Frieda Ferres; and brother, John Ferres. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Richard Anderson; daughters, Lynn Anderson and Kelly (Ed) Tennant; sister, JoAnn (Jerry) Pumphrey; grandchildren, Carrie, Crystal, Ricky, Jerry, Jacob, Karly and Cassie; and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, December 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where services will follow immediately at 7 p.m. with Pastor Michael Pumphrey officiating.
