Bessie J. Penix, 79, of Akron, passed away at home on May 20, 2006. She was born March 7, 1927 in Tomahawk, KY. Bessie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oma and Byrd Spears; brothers, Ellis and Edgar Spears; and granddaughter, Ashley Penix. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Herbert; daughter, Janet Huff (Sam); son, Denny Penix (Michelle); grandchildren, Shelley Goble, Bryan Penix, Todd Penix, Taylor Penix, and McKenzie Penix; and great-grandchildren, Willie, Bryan, Donavan, Anthony, Shane, Erica, and Emily. She is also survived by brother, James and sisters, Maxine, Phyllis, Vernon, and Vivian. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Online condolences may be sent to www.newcomerfamily.com.
