Betty Blackwell

Betty Ursula Blackwell, age 89, of Ravenna passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, in Hospice Care at Woodlands at Robinson in Ravenna, Ohio. Born September 14, 1926 in Stanford Twp., Ill, a daughter of the late Floyd and Nellie Hockman. Betty was a member of the Randolph Christian Church. Betty spent her married life as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Betty enjoyed spending time with family and neighbors. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch watching birds.

Survivors include her daughter Jan (Mark) Bland of Atwater; grandchildren: Cassie Uebinger of Atwater, Stephanie Walton of Winona, OH, Angie Rella of Edmond, OK, Travis (Toni) Heldman of Ravenna, Jeremy (Becky) Heldman of Stow, also survived by great grandchildren: Rob, Ashley, McKenzie, Jessica, MaKayla, Gavin and Blake.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Blackwell, her daughter Judy Uebinger, her son Gary Blackwell. Also sisters: Ruth Hockman and Virginia Garver, brothers, Lewis (Sonny) Hockman, Robert Hockman and Everett Hockman.

Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 3-5 pm with the funeral service beginning at 5 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr. Suite E, Green, OH 44685.
