Betty Mary (nee Fields) Brown was born October 16,1945 in Columbus, MS to the late Maude and Willie Fields.
Betty graduated from Shivers High School in 1963. She became a teacher for a few years, but she realized she needed a change, so she traveled to Indianapolis, IN and then to Toledo, OH before settling down in Akron, OH. Betty got married and had two children. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. Betty became an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Betty worked at Thermal Engineering & Design Co. while attending Akron University earning a degree in Office Administration. She decided to go back to school and earned another degree in Computer Science from Southern Ohio College in 1981. She held various positions until her retirement in 2015. Betty spent a lot of time in her flower gardens and would even go to line dancing class. She loved to travel, often going home to Columbus to see her family. Betty knew how to party as she would light up the room as soon as she entered. She was such a beautiful lady. A real classy southern belle. On October 30,2022 Betty passed away, peacefully, with her children by her side.
Other than her parents, those that preceded her were her brothers, Robert Fields, Clarence Fields, Willie George Fields, Hugh Fields Sr., Eddie Lathan, Joseph Fields and Franklin Fields; her sisters, Betty Glenn, Edith King, Queen Esther, Eddie Jane Bailey, Dessie B. Fields and Ollie Lindsey.
She leaves, to cherish her memory, her two children, Rynon and Silenthia Brown, both of Akron; two grandchildren, Demond J. Aguilar and Kenadee A. Williams of Akron; brother, Babe Ruth Fields; her grand-dog Brooklyn, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
