Betty J. Smith

Betty J. Smith, 75, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2025. Born in Akron, Ohio to George and Ann (Moskos) Burke, she was a lifelong Akron area resident. Betty loved her cats and she enjoyed gambling, baking. cooking, watching Westerns and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, John "Gomer" Smith, Jr; husbands, Johnny Smith, Leo Mauthe. She will be sadly missed by her significant of 20 years, Jerry Knicely, Sr. and his children and grandchildren; daughter, Betsy Corder; grandsons, Matt Corder, David Corder; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Carol Brown, George Burke, Jr.; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have a celebration of Betty's life at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Betty's name to the animal rescue organization of their choice.
