Betty Lou (Laston) James

Betty Lou James, 86, of Akron, passed away August 22, 2017. Betty was born in Akron, Ohio on November 16, 1930 to the late Richard Laston and Ruby Musselwhite. She was a graduate of Hammel Actual Business College, and worked at General Tire and Little Forest Medical Center for many years. Betty liked to cook and bake and she loved to dance and listen to music. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. Anyone who met her, loved her and she will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond James; step-father, Fred Musselwhite; son-in-law, AZ Patterson; sisters, Delores Boggs and Marjorie Laston; brothers, Alvin DePrato, Frank Laston, James Laston and Gene Laston.

She is survived by children, Judith Calderone, Thomas (Lindsay) James and Susan Patterson; many grandchildren; best friend, Joanne Adcox; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Laston, Lillian James, Carrie James and Patti James-Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 11 AM at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd., Akron, OH 44312. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty's honor to Lakemore United Methodist Church.
