Betty L. Sargent, 88, of Akron, passed away March 18, 2008. Betty was born in Scotland on December 1, 1919. She retired from General Tire after 27 years of service as an executive secretary. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Betty was preceded in death by her son, Robert. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Maxil; sons, James (Janet) and David (Katherine); grandchildren, Benjamin (Allison), Courtney, Jeremy, Nathan, and Jason; and two great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
