Betty E. Leidig, 90, of Akron, went Home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2018. Betty was born in Lima, Ohio on April 25, 1928 to the late John and Mildred Sutton. She was a life time member of Park United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved with the Missionary Circle. Betty was a "cracker jack" at retail sales for a number of different area companies. Betty had an exceptional memory and could recall wedding and birthday gifts from almost any family occasion. She was also known for her chocolate cream pies, a dessert that was expected at all family gatherings. She was the epitome of a Godly woman and lived a life of faith, love and fierce commitment to her family and the Lord.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sons, John and Paul Leidig, and sisters, Georgiana Douglas and Patricia McGuinn.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 70 years, James H. Leidig; daughter, Jamie E. (Keith) Weaver; son, Gregory (Sue Arvella) Leidig; daughter-in-law, Tonja Lee Leidig; grandchildren, Matthew (Aimee), Lisa (Steve), Joey (Heather), Erica, Beau, Carol (Chad) and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Madison, Alaina, Sydney, Eliana, Jonathan, Ashley, Bryce and Micayla, and great-great granddaughter, Sophia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Park United Methodist Church, 2308 24th St. SW, Akron, OH 44314. She will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
