We share with heavy hearts that our mom, Betty Lee (Thomas) Ross, 88, passed away peacefully June 14, 2022, with her son by her side. Mom fell at home Tuesday, June 7th, and fractured her lower left leg, the same leg in the past two years that had a femur break and hip fracture. Mom also dealt with COVID from January through April 2022. Sadly, her body could not handle anymore. She was a fighter, kicking and screaming all the way to life eternal.
Born January 15, 1934, in Akron to the late Clarence and Mary (Honoshofsky) Thomas, Betty was a lifelong resident of Lakemore, Ohio. She held many positions including Avon salesperson, Springfield HS cafeteria worker, Lakemore Councilperson, Summit County-Lakemore Election Board voting worker & presiding judge. She's a legacy in the Village of Lakemore. As she always said, "I am Betty Lee of Lakemore".
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles W. "Bud" Ross Jr., brothers Larry, Clarence Jr. & Bob Thomas, sister Lois (Thomas) McCoy, and half-brother Nick Cacciola.
Betty is survived by her daughters Rebecca "Becky" (Larry) Ross-Combs and Karen (Dale) Davidson; son Dr. Charles W. "Chuck" Ross, III, and Betty's brother John (Renie) Thomas. Grandma (Gigi) Betty showed a great interest in the achievements and interests of each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandchildren Ashley (Keith) Trusky, Aaron Combs, Chad (Jen) Davidson, Amanda Davidson (Mickey Walker). Great-grandchildren Matthew & Mara Trusky, Aaron Combs Jr., Maisey, Ellie, & Kallie Davidson, and little Myles Walker due in August.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Ted Shaub, cardiologist, and his staff for decades of excellent, loving care to Betty & Bud, and the Summa Hospice at-home and 5th floor teams.
Thank you to Frannie Thomas and Kim Blackburn, Betty's nieces, for their loving assistance and help for mom.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 22nd at 11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty's name may be made to Lakemore United Methodist Church or the Lakemore Fire Department.
