Betty Lou Wengerd

Betty Lou Wengerd of Akron was called home by the Lord on May 20, 2024. Born May 28, 1934 to Major Claar and Lucille McCawley. A loving and free-spirited woman who loved the Lord and her country, and was not afraid to tell you how she felt.
Married to Henry Wengerd, and raised 8 sons, Henry, Donald, Jerry, John Mark, Major, Mike, David, and Wayne. A devoted mother and friend who can be remembered most days swinging on her porch surrounding herself with flowers and wind chimes.
Survived by sons Donald, Jerry, Major, and Wayne Wengerd; brothers Jim, and Dick Claar; sister Joanne Trent; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Major Claar, Helen Claar, and Lucille McCawley; husband Henry Wengerd; sons Henry, John Mark, Mike, and David; brothers Major, Larry, Terry, Dave, and Robert Claar; sister Doris Bailey.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10-11 A.M on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greentown Cemetery. Flowers or Donation are greatly appreciated and can be sent to the funeral home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305) for the family.
