Beverly A. Thompson

Beverly Ann Thompson, 92, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on April 5th, 2025. She was born on February 4th, 1933, to Glynn "Dutch" Pearson and Annice Fluhart. Beverly lived a full and meaningful life, devoted to her family. She was dearly loved and will be remembered as a cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Beverly spent most of her adult life in Akron, where she married her beloved husband, Leslie H. Thompson, and together, they raised a beautiful family. As a stay-at-home mother, Beverly poured her love and energy into creating a warm home for her family. Later in life, she took up a job at Walgreens, where she worked for several decades stocking cards. She eventually gave up her work at Walgreens and returned to the comforts of home, where she was happiest.

Beverly was known for her love of quiet mornings, where she would sit at her dining room table, solving crossword puzzles from the *Akron Beacon Journal*. In her later years, she found joy in watching the birds and squirrels at her kitchen window. Afternoons were often spent in her backroom, where she enjoyed playing computer games, watching her favorite shows on ID and Bravo, reading gossip magazines, and catching up with family and friends through frequent phone calls. She also cherished moments spent with her husband, Leslie, putting together puzzles.

Although Beverly found peace in the home she loved, she also enjoyed traveling. Her trips to Florida, Tennessee, and the family’s favorite spot, Cook Forest, PA, brought her great joy. She fondly remembered special trips to Pike’s Peak and Acadia National Park, often recommending those destinations to anyone who mentioned traveling. Beverly was also a regular at Mountaineer Casino in West Virginia, where she would always boast of how she "made out."

In addition to her love for travel, Beverly enjoyed being part of a bowling league for many years, where she made lasting memories with her friends. She always made sure to be present for her family, attending every birthday party, graduation, and cookout. She was a fixture at fairs and festivals, seeking out her favorite treats like fudge, pumpkin and nut roll, Lerch's donuts, and anything with black raspberry.

Beverly is survived by her children, Al Amodie (Debbie), Barbara Labbe, and Wendy Coones; her treasured grandchildren, Ryan Labbe (Joy), Jayson Coones (Megan), Sarah Roland (William), Clayton Labbe (Jamie), Hannah Coones (Kurt McCown), Elyse Labbe Benedum (Josh Benedum), Josh Coones (Rachel), Michael (Courtney) Amodie, Alex Amodie, and Matt (Shea) Amodie; as well as many great-grandchildren and friends. She is preceded in death by her father (Dutch), mother (Annice), brother (Jack Pearson), and her beloved husband, Les Thompson.

Beverly was a woman of strength and resilience—feisty, headstrong, loyal, and generous. She had a heart full of love and offered the best of herself to those she cared about. Her infectious laugh could light up any room, and her beautiful blue eyes reflected the genuine warmth that she carried in her soul.

Beverly will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her family and friends will always remember her for her smile, her laughter, her sparkling blue eyes, and the incredible love she gave.
