Bobby Fay Bailey, 90, passed away October 11, 2022. Bob was born in Bear Creek, Alabama, to Monroe and Viney (Hutcheson) Bailey. He resided in the Akron, Ohio, area most of his adult life. Bob previously worked as a chef for ARA at B. F. Goodrich Tire & Rubber Company. One of his favorite dishes to cook at home was Spanish Rice that he would simmer the pot all day. Bob also loved his years working as the Maintenance man at Lakemore Tri-County Plaza. Bob had great fondness for dogs, especially Bosco, Prince & Ruger. Bob loved being the maintenance man at Lakemore Tri-County Plaza. Bob often reminisced and shared memories with family and friends. Having a great love for football, Bob faithfully watched his favorite teams, Ohio State and Alabama compete in big games. The Buckeyes were his favorite team. He had the wonderful experience of traveling to Pasadena, California, with his son-in-law, Michael Kerlik, to see them play in the 1985 Rose Bowl.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Judy and more recently his second wife, Nina; son-in-law, Michael Kerlik III; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bailey; granddaughter, Randi; sister, Jean Southerland. He will be sadly missed by his children, Bruce Bailey and Karen Kerlik; grandchildren, Melissa and husband, Adam Massingale, Brittany and husband, Sean Virani, Dustin and wife, Sami Forrest; great grandchildren, Alyssa Graham, Gabriel Massingale, Dawson Virani, and Weston Forrest; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, October 21, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Those who wish to make a memorial donation in Bob's name can donate to the Humane Society or choose a charity of your choice.
