Bonnie J. Thomas (Gorday)

Bonnie J. Thomas (Gorday), 75, received her wings on September 25, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born September 3, 1942 in Akron, OH to late parents George and Frances Gorday. Bonnie had a passion for her grandchildren, a love for cooking and taking trips with Jim to the casinos. She retired from Wonder-Hostess Baking Company where she started out as a Twinkie. Bonnie also worked for Al Spitzer Ford, Tallmadge Schools and later followed her passion for cooking to work at Chenoweth Country Club and Party Center.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Gorday. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim; children, Don Thomas, Mark (Brister) Thomas, Tracie (John) Bartlebaugh, Mike Thomas; grandchildren, Abigail, Mary-Brister, Golda-Gray, Harlow LaUna, Matthew, Alexis, Beau, Hollie, Natalie, Andrew, Steven, Rachel; sister, Debbi (Ed) Hoard, sister-in-law, Judi Gorday; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Visiting Nurse and Springfield Township EMS for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either facility.
