Brian Joseph Powers

Brian Joseph Powers, 43, of Akron, died on June 13, 2020 unexpectedly in Akron, Ohio. His calling hours will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home at 131 North Canton Road in Akron, Ohio on Sunday, June 21, 2020 from 12pm-1pm. Brian was born in Akron on April 11, 1977.

In Brian's loving memory he was the son of Walter Powers and Veronica Friemuth and the loving brother of Walter (Holly) Powers, and Vivian (Vernon) Powers-Smith. He was also survived by his nephews Logan and Kofi- Gabriel Powers; niece, Shirley Jones and immediate family Uncle Thomas (Valerie) Powers, Uncle Andre "Bubba" Robinson, Uncle Tony (Roberta ) Robinson, Aunt Blanche (Ernest) Johnson, and Aunt Patricia Robinson; loving cousins Kim (Robert) Threatt, Samantha (Kevin) Watkins, Samuel "Jr." Watkins, Trey Johnson, Ashley Helen Burns, Antwon Cole, Thomas "T" (Michelle) Powers, Skyler and Sierra Robinson; and a whole host of loving extended family members, godchildren, and friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents Walter (Glenna) Powers, Helen Burns Powers and Jessie (Dallas) Robinson.

Brian attended Mc Ebright Elementary, Roswell Kent Middle School, and Garfield High School. He was a proud advocate for the LGBTQ community of which he was known as EGYPT. He enjoyed cooking, old movies, and meeting new people. Brian was truly unforgettable with an infectious laugh and was always smiling. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends who all knew and loved him.
