Brian Alexander Reali, 52, passed away on March 21, 2023. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 3, 1971 to the late Fred and Margaret (Durkin) Reali. Brian is survived by numerous family members and friends. Brian loved his four children, Brendan, Maura, Brady, and Megan more than anything in the world. They filled his heart with joy every moment of his life.
Brian graduated from Ursuline High School in Youngstown, before earning his B.A. in History from Mount Union College in 1993 and his J.D. from the University of Akron College of Law in 1998. His law career included serving as Assistant County Prosecutor for Coshocton County, Assistant Law Director for the City of Stow, Law Director for the City of Stow, and Law Director for the City of Beachwood.
Brian was extremely proud and honored to serve his country as a Major in the Ohio Army National Guard. His duties included serving with the 16th Engineer Brigade, as the Command Judge Advocate for the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, as well as the 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. Brian served as Chief Legal Advisor, Command Judge Advocate, and other legal missions during his three overseas tours in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Kosovo.
Brian lived life to the fullest and worked hard to enjoy everything life had to offer. Music was a huge part of Brian's life, including live music, concerts, and his top three favorite bands: the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen. He adored dogs and had many faithful pets over the years, including his childhood dog Barney, Gipper, Pearson, Banshee, Lucy, and his latest rescue, Tuesday. He was passionate about sports. Brian was the biggest fan of Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Pittsburgh Steelers. For many years, he enjoyed the freedom of hitting the road on his Harley Road King. He was a lifelong fitness enthusiast and worked out seven days a week at the gym.
Brian was extremely proud of his heritage. His mother's family originated from Ireland, his father's family originated from Italy, and Brian always held a special place in his heart for his hometown of Youngstown.
Through all his struggles, Brian never lost faith in God and the saving grace of Jesus. He was committed to Catholicism all his life and found great comfort in the church.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, followed by a procession to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where Brian will be laid to rest.
