Britton John Rinehart, 93, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023. Britton was born on December 16, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. His gregarious and effervescent personality was truly larger than life!
Britton, the only child of Norine (Doner) and John Rinehart, grew up in Oak Park and Chicago, Illinois. He attended Campion Jesuit High School, a boarding school for boys in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Loyola University in Chicago. While at Campion, Britt set the school record for the 100-yard dash in less than 10 seconds, truly a feat for that time!
Britt met the love of his life, Dolores Humphreville at a church dance and never looked back! They were married for 60 years and lovingly raised four children together. Faith and family were of paramount importance to both Britt and Dolores! He was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Hilary's Parish in Fairlawn, Ohio since 1979. Britt had a love for many genres of music and was a longtime member of the St. Hilary's Church choir. Britt proudly passed on his gift for music to many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An adventurous traveler and ultimate tour guide, Britt explored the country and made magical memories with Dolores, his children, their spouses, and his beloved grandchildren. Special destinations included Hawaii, Aruba, Italy and Egypt. His favorite trips, however, were memorable adventures with only his grandchildren to Disney World, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park and California. His grandchildren consider him to be the ultimate Grandfather!
Britt was active in Youth Hockey and Baseball with his boys, and served as a baseball umpire (not one to be challenged on a call!)
Britt was passionate about all things Chicago, most notably, the Cubs and Loyola Ramblers Basketball. An avid reader and historian, Britt had extensive knowledge of the Civil War.
His career in residential and commercial building product sales spanned over 45 years. It began in Chicago and led him to Minnesota, North Dakota and finally Ohio where he resided with his beloved Dolores since 1979.
Britton will be remembered for his inexhaustible joie de vivre, his ever-present optimism, his resilience, quick wit and generous golden heart!
Britton was preceded in death by his parents, Norine and John Rinehart, his beloved wife Dolores Humphreville Rinehart, his treasured eldest son, Britton Eugene Rinehart, and his precious granddaughter, Caroline Cecilia Gaiser. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Paula (Paul) Gaiser, Robert (Debra) Rinehart, and Gregory (Anita) Rinehart. Devoted grandfather of Sean (Ruthie) Gaiser, Laura (Jeffrey) Wright, Julia Gaiser, Jessica Dominguez, Anna (Brian) Semerjian, Erin, Ashley and Rachel Rinehart, Alexander (Annie) Rinehart and Bradley Rinehart. Proud great-grandfather of Liam Sean Connolly, Gabriel Elijah and Nolan Steven Semerjian, Charlotte Quinn, Britton Beckler and Dolores Jane Gaiser, and Juliet Cecilia Dominguez. Britton is also survived by his loving daughter-in-law Cecilia (James) Shields, many devoted nieces and nephews, and special friends Joseph Walter, Bernard Lesneski, and Paul Martucci.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the kind care received from the Copley Health Center and Hospice of Western Reserve. A private internment will take place at a later date. Britton had a deep and loving connection to his precious great-granddaughter Dolly. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial contributions honoring Britton be made in Dolly Gaiser's name to The Cure Canavan Fund: Dr. Paola Leone 2920 Ave R, Ste 327 Brooklyn, NY 11229.
