Brock Aaron Couture

Avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and logger, Brock A. Couture of Newton Falls, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, at the age of 57. He was in the woods where everyone who knew him knew he was happiest.

Born January 15, 1966, in Burlington, Vermont, Brock later grew up in Springboro, Ohio. He was the oldest of 6 siblings. He and close friend Randy Morgan were forever out in the woods, fishing, searching for mushrooms, and hunting. He even came home with a baby crow that had fallen from a tree. Jake became a beloved family pet that, though free, constantly came around the house to visit and steal shiny items.

Brock went on to get his degree in Forest Management at Hocking College. Enterprising from a young age, when he would mow lawns and shovel driveways, he eventually ended up settling in northern Ohio where he started Couture Forestry Services in 2002. Operating an Ohio Forestry Association (OFA) Master Logging Company, Brock was an active member of the Northeast Ohio Loggers Chapter, recently as the Vice-Chairman. As a chainsaw and tree felling instructor, he taught hundreds of students on chainsaw safety. In the words of OFA event manager Gayla Fleming, "He was a very popular instructor. I don't know how I am going to fill those shoes."

Brock competed numerous times in the Game of Logging both locally and nationally. After winning the Regional Competition in his area, he placed 5th overall with an Outstanding Score on Bore Cut in the 2006 National Professional Finals.

He was an amazing big brother whose younger brothers will forever cherish the time he spent with them, teaching them how to hunt, fish, and some of the ins and outs of logging. Brock loved to cook and showed his brothers that mushrooms actually tasted good, and the best ones are fresh morels you harvest yourself.

Brock is survived by his mother, Mary Couture of Ohio, and siblings Ben, Jerritte, Garth, Jessica and Cathy. Nieces and nephews, Aiden, Gracie, Kamden, Titus, Hannah, Avrie, Mason, Caleb, Sydney, and Perry, as well as six great nieces and nephews.

He joins his beloved grandfather, "Papa," grandmother "Mom," along with his aunt Laura and father Joseph Couture, both who passed away in 2022. We know they're all hanging out at camp, Brock and Papa fishing.


Two services will be held:
Friday, August 18, 2023 at Parkside Church (7100 Pettibone Rd, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023) from 4:30pm until the time the service begins at 5:30pm. Please join the family for a meal to follow the service.

Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Fraternal Order of Eagles (125 E Central Ave, Springboro, OH 45066) for a Celebration of Life Service from 2-6:00pm.
