Burnice W. Lane
Burnice W. Lane, 98, died on June 26, 2006 at the Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio. He was born December 16, 1907 in Berlin, Pennsylvania to the late Ida (Suder) & Jacob Lane. Burnice graduated from Berlin High School and was drafted into the Army during WWII where he fought in Sicily, Austria and Germany. Later he worked in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Latrobe, Pennsylvania as a Pharmacist's assistant. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, shopping and cooking. He was a bachelor all his life. During his later years, he lived with his niece, Phyllis Toney, in Toledo, Ohio for 1 year and with his great-niece, Ruth Kehring, in Akron, Ohio for the past 3 1/2 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Ralph Lane; and sister, Hilda Lane Apple. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Frankie Lane, Jr. of Bowie MD, Sally Lane of Berlin PA, Bob Apple of Fallen Timber PA, Paul W. Toney of Mesa AZ, Earl W. Toney of Monocalve OH; Nancy, Kathy and Debbie of PA; Penny Hamburg of Dayton OH; and Scott Toney of Toledo OH. Burial will take place at Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Berlin PA on Wednesday, June 28 at 12:00 p.m.
