Byron A. Pritchard, 86, of Green, OH, went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2020 after a short illness. He was born in Akron on October 26, 1933 to the late Lloyd and Virgie Pritchard. After graduating from East High School in 1953, Byron married the love of his life, Rosemarie Udvari. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before beginning a 25-year career in the linen business, where he progressed from delivery driver to General Manager of Akron Towel Supply and later, of Independent Towel Supply in Cleveland. After retiring at age fifty, Byron embarked on a 27-year real estate career, becoming a broker and opening Pritchard Realty.
Throughout his life, he was generous with his time and talents. He enjoyed working with his hands to upgrade the homes of family and friends and to beautify his home landscape. Byron also devoted himself to his church, Springfield Assembly of God. Over his 48 years of membership, he served in many capacities: Sunday school teacher, board member, usher, greeter and more. Byron will always be remembered for his love for Christ, his family, and his friends, and for his light-hearted and engaging sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rosemarie Pritchard. He will be deeply missed by his children, Kathleen (Gary) Beck, Karen (Rich) Nisly, and Byron (Bonnie) Pritchard; dear companion Dian Flanders; siblings, Ellene Nuzum and Edward (Nancy) Pritchard; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his enduring circle of good friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Springfield Assembly of God, 1551 Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, Pastor Eric Schroeter officiating. Private interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
