Carl W. George, age 95 of Akron, Ohio, died on July 25, 2017 at Heritage Villa.
He was born on November 27, 1921 in Mahoning, PA, the son of the late Russell R. and Katie Chestnut George.
Carl was a 1941 graduate of Kittanning High School and was a retired laborer from BF Goodrich in 1984 after 40 years of service.
Mr. George was also an honorably discharged US Navy Veteran during WWII.
Carl enjoyed hunting-he shot his last deer at the age of 90, fishing, camping, and was a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Edith Flowers, whom he married on November 2, 1946; his two sons, Gary W. (Cherie) George of Punta Gorda, FL, and Gregory L. (Sue) George of Akron; one granddaughter, Stacey L. George of Diamond; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph M. Williams and Ashleigh L. Williams. His siblings also survive, Kenneth George and Loretta Wedekind.
In additions to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by brother, Lyn George and his sister, Catherine Chewning; and his step-mother, Grace George.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM, where family and friends may visit from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home on Sunday.
Burial will take place privately on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Hospice.
