Carl R. Maphies
Carl R. Maphies, 83, of Uniontown, passed away on June 11, 2005. He was born in Jerico, MO to the late Charles and Ada (Beckly) Maphies. Carl was a WWII Army veteran as a Sgt. Major, and served during the Battle of the Bulge. Carl was a dedicated serviceman for Sears Co. for over 30 years. He met his wife in Belgium during the war, brought her back to Akron, and they were married for 51 years. Carl was a devoted husband, who spent his life loving and caring for his "buttercup" Simone. Along with his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his wife Simone Maphies; sisters Leona and Meridith, and brother Eldon. He is surived by his extened family Jim, Tara, Olivia and Ava and special caregiver, Carolyn Sines. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2005 at 1:00 PM at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with Pastor Robert Hutson officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
