Carl Thomas Dean, 93, went home to heaven on January 31, 2012. Devoted husband of Dorothy Lenna Dean for 72 years, Carl loved the Lord faithfully. A member of Akron Baptist Temple since 1940, Carl taught Sunday School, served as Deacon and with his wife, Lenna, was Superintendent of Primary VII Department for 35 years.
A skilled machinist, Carl retired from Akron Standard Mold in 1981.
He was preceded in death by parents, Elijah T. Dean and Lenora Belle Dean (nee Mathis); wife, Lenna; son, Robert Carl Dean; one grandson; three sisters; and five brothers. Carl is survived by son, Raymond Earl Dean; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
Honoring Carl's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Akron Baptist Temple, 2324 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44314 (330) 745-8824. Visitation will be from 11:30-1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Akron Baptist Temple or Hospice of Senior Independence, 1815 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
