Carlos Edward "Red" King passed from this earth on 6/20/2022, having lived to the age of 95 years old.
He was a devoted husband, father, friend, World War II Veteran, and a Mason. He was married to his wife Adrienne for 54 years, who preceded him in death. He was a father of Michael King (Barbara) and Michelle Quiros (Miguel); grandfather of Rachel King, Amanda Bohman (Rob), Nicholas Hampu (Ann), and Kristen Hampu; great-grandfather of James and Isla Bohman. His sister Irene Platz, brother Chester King, and his mother Mary King preceded him in death.
He was a friend and team-mate to countless others. He played on various Industrial League softball teams in the 1950's and 60's and then golf and bowling teams after his softball career was shortened by an accident. He was very proud to have served in the Navy in 1945, having been stationed in the Pacific on an aircraft carrier, the USS Langley. He would tell one of his favorite Navy stories, after the war, his ship went to Italy to ferry soldiers back to the US and the voyage was very rough, and the soldiers became seasick, and he would just smile and say - "Those guys were sure miserable." He was always proud of being a Mason and was one for over 66 years, being an active member of Yusef Kahn Grotto, along with Akron-Covington # 83 Blue Lodge, and was always willing to help and pitch-in. He worked for Goodyear for over 44 years as a Water-treatment Engineer. He enjoyed 33 years of retirement with time with family, gardening, and activities with his Mason brothers. He will be missed by all that knew him.
