Carol Ruth Batten

Carol Ruth Batten, age 88, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023. She was born April 7, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to the late Marshall and Evelyn Grigg. Carol was a graduate of Tallmadge High School class of 1952. She married the love of her life, David L. Batten(deceased) and they moved to Brimfield to start a family.

She was proceeded in death by her husband David Batten in 2013; brothers, Jim and Bill Grigg, as well as many dear friends.

Survivors include her beloved dog Sophie; sons, Dave (Denise) Batten and Jim (Michelle) Batten, both of Tallmadge; sister, Jeanne (Joe) Galambos; brother, Daniel Grigg; 6 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Carol was a member of the Firestone Park Christian Church for many years, but for the past 15 years she has been a member of First Freedom Baptist Church in Brimfield. She was known on the Sunday School bus as the "Cookie Lady" as she loved to bake fresh cookies every week for the children. A special thank you to all her dear friends from First Freedom Baptist Church that would pick her up and bring her back home for church services, fellowships and many other activities that she enjoyed.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Colony Healthcare Facility for all their care over the past 3 years, and also the staff from Affinity Hospice for helping make mom comfortable over her last few days.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to First Freedom Baptist Church on behalf of Carol.

Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at First Freedom Baptist Church, 2171 Tallmadge Rd., Brimfield, OH. Service will immediately follow at 2:30 P.M. at the church. Private interment will take place Monday at Restland Cemetery.
