Carol Welling Shaver

Carol W. Shaver, 70, of Akron, passed away February 21, 2005 at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. She was born July 9, 1934 in Akron, Ohio to the late Harold & Mary (Johnson) Welling. Carol was a life-long resident of Akron and served as assistant Treasurer for the Akron Bow Hunters Club for 21 years. She will be remembered as "Grandma" to many neighborhood children. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Vaughan and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy & Agnes Louise Shaver. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harold "Hap" Shaver of Akron; son, Harold "Hal" Jr. of Akron; grandchildren, Candace "Candy" Louise Shaver and Tracy Shaver; sister, Margaret "Peg" (Earle) Williard of Akron; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Rev. Daniel Fair officiating. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. Thursday until the service begins. Cremation will follow the service.
