Carolyn B. Hart

Carolyn B. Hart, 77, passed away on March 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 14, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to Willie E. Davis, Jr., and Lena E. Davis. Carolyn gained bonus parents through her mother's subsequent marriage to Mance Jenkins, Jr., and her father's relationship with Audrey Mae Clay (later Clay-Pugh) to the combined union of 11 siblings.

Carolyn attended Cleveland Public Schools. She graduated from John Adams High School. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1963. She loved attending the District Convention and Circuit Assembly with her family.

Carolyn was united in marriage with James M. Hart, Sr. on May 31, 1967 and from their union had three children: David, Carlena and Charlena - twins. She also gained three stepchildren, James Jr., Richard, and Valores. Carolyn relocated from Cleveland to Akron in 1968.

Carolyn dedicated her life to the care for others. While her children were young, Carolyn was a stay-at-mom. She took care of three children, making sure that they had everything they needed living in North Akron, which was a "We Are Family" neighborhood. She made packing lunches for field trips look like fun. She watched many movies with her children and their friends.

She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners, making cookies and helping out during summer lunch program at Springdale. Carolyn was a true "hero" to her family and friends. She was a twice breast cancer survivor. She always inspired her family and others be a better person.

Later on her journey, she went back to school to earn a nursing assistant certificate. Carolyn worked as a nursing assistant for close to 20 years. She help her clients carry out their daily tasks they could not do so due to an illness. Carolyn could be seen throughout Goodyear Heights walking to the bus stop as she did not drive nor wanted to. She loved to "drive" from the passenger seat when riding in the car with one of her children. She loved to walk. She was a part of the group of walkers who walked around the old Chapel Hill Mall.

Carolyn was very involved in helping raise her grandsons, Diamond and Lil Dave. She continued her unconditional support throughout Diamond's and Lil Dave's upbringing.

She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren and family, including attending countless school performances and events and graduations.

She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, sister, Tamara Jenkins, grandsons, David Hart, Jr., and Jonathan Saafir, Sr., and brother, Lee Andrew Davis. She will be sadly missed by her children, David, Carlena, Charlena; and bonus children, James Jr. (Sallie), Richard E. (Maggie), and Valores (Cleo) Andrews; grandchildren, Diamond, Deontae Pickett, Sr., Keyonne Travis, Sr., Sarah Gordon, Christian Price, and Sierra, great-grandchildren, Davierre, Marquell, Azaria, Deontae Jr., DaJahn, Ni'aire, Keyonne Jr., David, and DeNae; siblings, Michael Davis, Audrey (Lewis) Moye, Elaine Prince, Cassandra (Isaac) Nelson, Arlene Clay, Beverly Godfrey, Walter Clay, Linda Clay, Larry (Sorrenthia) Clay; bonus grandchildren, Richard Sr.,(Kathy), Damon, Ashlee, James III (Latiffa), and Asia; aunts, cousins, uncle and many nieces, nephews and other relatives, and loving friends.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, March 17, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home.
