Carolyn A. Schmitt, 66, of Rootstown, passed away March 20, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Akron, Ohio on October 15, 1957. Carolyn graduated from Ellet High School. She went onto the Akron School of Practical Nursing, where she obtained her LPN. She worked for St. Thomas Hospital for 11 years, before going on to a career with the US Postal Service for 31 years.
Carolyn took immense pride in her gardens. She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and different vegetables, and she loved her succulents. Over the years she won many ribbons at the Portage County Fair for her canned goods and herbs. She also enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking.
Above all in her life, Carolyn cherished spending time with and caring for her family, whether it was family vacations or shopping trips with her sister she always wanted to have her family be happy.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Dale Efferson; and her grandparents.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Paul Schmitt; son, Christopher Schmitt; step-mother, Nancy Sue Efferson (Ron); brothers, James (Nanette) Efferson and David Efferson; sisters, Christine (Lawrence) Kellar and Agnes Efferson; numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and her beloved Chihuahua, Lucy.
A memorial service will take place on Friday March 29, 2024 at 12pm at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron.
A Celebration of Carolyn's Life will take place on July 6, 2024 at 2pm at the family home (5042 Kelly Ave, Rootstown, OH 44272).
