Carolyn Elaine Schneider (nee. Herman) was born on November 16, 1944 and placed her soul in the hands of the Lord on May 20th, 2018 surrounded by love- a remarkable journey of 73 years. Carolyn was the daughter of Lawrence Herman and Abagail Hartupee. She was a life-long Akron resident. She married Don Schneider- her husband of 33 years in 1985.
Carolyn will be dearly missed by her loving husband Don and her beloved step-daughter Amy Carter (Schneider) the light of her life, and her brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Audrey Herman and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Colorado.
Carolyn graduated from Central High School and taught elementary students mostly 1st and 3rd grades. She also earned her Master's Degree. She retired with 30 years of service in 1995.
Carolyn enjoyed collecting antiques and had many collections; especially her nutmeg graters. Her Halloween collection was also one of her greatest joys. Carolyn and Don took many camping trips to the Northeast and the coast of Maine stopping at every antique shop. They loaded the motor home and just headed east. She took joy in her many friendships and meeting new ones at music festivals while listening to Amy and Don play their old-timey fiddle tunes. She enjoyed watercolor painting and being in her art studio. She spent countless hours researching for her genealogy project. Carolyn also volunteered at Hower House for many years.
