Carolyn J. Smith

Carolyn J. Smith, 74, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2017. Daughter of Othel and Nora Woolum, Carolyn was born in Oak Hill, OH on August 15, 1943. She retired in 2005 from JC Penney after 35 years of service. Carolyn loved spending time with her family, cooking, was an avid gardener, enjoyed the outdoors and taking trips to Amish Country and Myrtle Beach.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert; siblings, Phyllis (Bill) Bates, Dale Woolum, Pam Dinninger; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 1pm with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery, Hartville to follow.
