Carrie Elaine Matthews

Carrie Elaine Matthews, 58, passed away with her family and co-workers by her side on December 15, 2016. Carrie was born in Akron on September 19, 1958. she was a critical care nurse at Summa Akron City Hospital for over 35 years. She was loved and respected by her patients and colleagues and truly loved her career. Carrie had a feisty, outgoing personality and was always the life of the party. She devoted herself to her family and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Carrie was preceded in death by her father, Charles Drumm. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kelly Matthews and Laurel (Pat) Ward; her granddaughter and the light of her life, Julia Ward; mother, Nora Drumm; stepmom, Dolly Drumm; brothers, Jeff, David, and Doug Drumm; nephew, Charlie Drumm; granddog, Jaxon; many other relatives, friends, and her Summa family. A celebration of Carrie's life will take place on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carrie's daughters.
