Catherine D. Helton

Catherine D. Helton, 97, passed away November 6, 2021. Born in Akron, Ohio to Adolph and Elizabeth (Savlovich) Dort, she was a lifelong area resident. Kay enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, camping, hiking in the Summit County Metro Parks, all of her dogs over the years, spending time with her children, and in most recent times mashed potatoes and her rocking chair.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Robert McCabe, Augustus Helton; son, John McCabe; 4 siblings. She will be sadly missed by her children, Larry (Carolyn) McCabe, Dennis McCabe, Sue (Jeff) Taylor, Chris (Mark) Koehler, Doug (Tina) McCabe; grandchildren, Mick, Laura, Desiree, Lindsey, Nick, Keith, Stephanie, Rebecca, Audrey, Madeline; great grandchildren, Tanner, Nate, Thackery, Charlotte, Violet, Aurora, Louise; nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Rd.
